Jonathan Toews hasn't played in the NHL for a couple of years and recently went on a journey to focus on his health; and now he's looking to make a return to the ice.

Beset by a myriad of health problems due to the effects of COVID-19 and immune deficiency issues, former Chicago Blackhawks captain and superstar Jonathan Toews has been on the mend for the last couple years.

Recently having undergone a health pilgrimage to India in order to seek treatment, the three-time Stanley Cup Champion isn't happy with how his career quickly ended and made some very interesting comments regarding his potential return:

"There's a part of me that really doesn't feel like my career is over yet."

Jonathan Toews Could Be The Solution To The Maple Leafs Issues

If the Maple Leafs wanted to go outside the box when it comes to their offensive woes, and add a center with a ton of playoff experience they should look no further than Toews.

While he has been out of the game for a bit, he could be a viable option for a late season signing if he gets healthy and able to be back on the ice in some capacity.

He wouldn't be expected to be the offensive superstar in Chicago but his playmaking ability and scoring touch would desperately help the Leafs.

He's also one of the best defensive centers over the last decade and often found himself in the Selke conversation.

Not one to shy away from getting into the grittier part of the game, he would fit perfectly in Craig Berube's system.

Having a trio of centers that include Auston Matthews, John Tavares, and Jonathan Toews sounds like something out of a video game but this season it's a very real possibility.

No way will Toews command the type of money he made before either, and could be a steal if he produces.

Oh, not to mention his incredible postseason prowess and even having a veteran who has not only won, but consistently was one of the best playoff performers is invaluable for Toronto's players who haven't done anything past a miraculous first round win in 2022.

It won't be easy for Toews to get back on the ice, but if he is able to get healthy and feel confident he can help a team down the homestretch, Brad Treliving needs to make a call and see if Toews would be interested in being a member of the blue and white.
