According to TSN's Mark Masters, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe has confirmed that goaltender Matt Murray will be starting in Saturday's game against the Vancouver Canucks. Murray has been out of action for 17 games due to an ankle injury and will need to be activated off the long-term injured reserve before returning to the ice.
Murray's absence began after the game against the Florida Panthers on January 17th, and he was initially expected to miss only two games. However, he also missed considerable time earlier in the season due to an adductor injury.
In Murray's absence, the Maple Leafs managed to maintain a strong 11-5-1 record, with Ilya Samsonov and Joseph Woll taking on the goaltending duties.
When healthy, Murray has been a reliable goaltender for the Leafs in his first season with the team. He has 11 wins in 19 appearances, with a save percentage of .911 and a goals against average of 2.73.
