Don Cherry is a big fan of old-school hockey and has shared his thoughts on the firing of Kyle Dubas and the hiring of Brad Treliving.

Cherry's Thoughts On Dubas' Firing

Don Cherry is one of the most iconic and controversial figures in the hockey community. Regardless of your viewpoint of him, you have to respect his knowledge of the sport of hockey.

In a recent interview, he discussed the Maple Leafs and their recent moves. He has surprised many with his thoughts on Kyle Dubas' firing.

«He didn't think it was necessary to fire Kyle Dubas or trade any players. He just thought the team should play its tougher ones like Wayne Simmonds»

It appears he thinks Dubas built a championship-caliber team but the championship pieces were not utilized. He also went on to speak on the Treliving hiring.

While he does not think it was necessary for the Leafs to fire Dubas, he does not seem to hate the Treliving hiring. His thoughts are as follows.

«Fans are going to love this team, nobody is going to push them around, that is for sure. You won't have a situation where they choked the college kid Matthew Knies like we saw in the playoffs. With Reaves on there and Bertuzzi and Domi too, that won't happen again.» - Don Cherry

Cherry seems to approve of what Brad Treliving has done thus far. He is right when he says that the Leafs will not have another situation like that of Knies getting choked in the playoffs. Their new acquisitions will ensure that does not happen and will protect their star players.

As seen on Daily Hive - Don Cherry doesn't think the Leafs needed to fire Dubas
