The play of the Toronto Maple Leafs hasn't been great over the past week, and now one Maple Leafs star has fired back at the media and the fans for their coverage over this time.
After blowing leads in three straight games and picking up losses in four straight, the media and the fans expressed their frustration, but with calls for his job, Sheldon Keefe revealed that the team doesn't appear to be frustrated.
"I don't. Today, I felt really good about our bench and really good about our team. Again, you give up the late one, and that one really hurts. That has been a trend, right? We have been in tie games and have given one up late. We iced the puck. We had exhausted people out there. That stings after playing such a hard game. I don't sense frustration in particular after this one. The guys knew the challenge we were up against tonight. They know they played a game that very easily could've gone the other way."
While Keefe himself is no doubt frustrated that the team are so close but can't finish games off, he remains in support of his team, but as for Marner, he couldn't resist taking a shot at the fans and the media.

He may have echoed the same sentiments as his Head Coach, but when asked, Mitch Marner called out the people making noise outside of the organization.
"A lot of people on the outside are trying to do that. It's how it goes for us. We know we're doing the right things. We got to ignore what everyone else says. We know we're a great hockey team. We show up every night. I mean, this last four games that we've had leads, we've played some awesome hockey, some great hockey."
Some may have given up on this team, but it appears the team is as tight as ever, and if they can tighten up some things, the belief within the locker room remains strong as Marner emphasizes here.
