Maple Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov was not shy to talk about his performance or lack thereof, but neither was his head coach after a 7-3 defeat on home ice in game one.
Samsonov's play prompted many in the media to ask about Sheldon Keefe's plans in the net for game 2, which goes Thursday night back at Scotiabank Arena.
When asked about his plans, Keefe noted:
«It's too early to know.»
Although non-committal, you have to imagine that Samsonov's big bulk of work, and ability to bounce back from tough starts will earn a vote of confidence from his coach. If Ilya does not get the nod, the Leafs will turn to 24-year-old Joseph Woll who has 12 games in the NHL under his belt.
The day after game 1 is always filled with overreaction, so to assume that anyone other than Samsonov will be between the pipes on Thursday is ludicrous.
