Shocking Maple Leaf Appears to Have Made Playoff Roster
Sheldon Keefe will be trying anything necessary to get past the first round. This now appears to include a very surprising callup.
Simmonds Called Up by Maple Leafs
Last year's strategy against the Tampa Bay Lightning was to go in guns blazing with their toughest players. Kyle Clifford, Jason Spezza, and Wayne Simmonds patrolled the fourth line, but ultimately it was to no avail.
This year, Keefe appears to be trying this method again - as he called up Wayne Simmonds from the AHL.
Simmonds was likely going to be an important piece for the Toronto Marlies in the Calder Cup playoffs, so this move definitely indicates he will get a roster spot.
As long as the Leafs make it past the first round, we won't judge the moves Keefe makes!
