Craig Berube and William Nylander are often seen chatting at practice, and the Leafs head coach and explained the reasoning behind the various chit-chats.

William Nylander has been Toronto's best goal-scorer this season and although he's had a seasonal drought recently, he's still doing whatever he can to help the team win, and often gives the Maple Leafs a highlight reel goal or breakaway attempt at least once a game.

Given more ice time, playing at both ends of the ice, and having four goals in his last three games, Nylander is looking ever the superstar and is giving Toronto a bit of relief when it comes to his hefty financial hit.

But for head coach Craig Berube, Nylander is quite the chatty Cathy and the two are often seen discussing things during practice. The Leafs bench boss revealed what he and the Swedish star chat about, and it involves Berube having a keen ear for the unusual.

Understanding his forward has had a bit of a rollercoaster season although he's been great, Berube revealed that Nylander often presents him with a new strategy and the coach tends to take an interest; even if he doesn't always agree:

"Tough question. I have a lot of conversations with him which I enjoy. I want him to open up to me; what we can do better. He has a lot of great ideas. I may not agree with them all, but there's something I might want to hear."

It's unknown if Nylander's idea was a complete overhaul of the offense, or simply what's for dinner that night; Berube is always keen to listen. He's done so earlier and led to great success, as the forward's wish for more ice time has been granted and Berube has trusted him at both ends of the rink.

This season, Nylander has 28 goals, 21 assists but is a minus-2 on the year.

He was on pace for 40 goals once again before he slowed down, though if he can pick it back up within the next couple of weeks, there's a chance he can reach that plateau by March.

It's a great sign that Nylander and Berube are chatting, and the constant communication is a huge positive and shows that the Leafs coach genuinely cares about his players even if they don't always see eye to eye.
