Toronto Maple Leafs Reveal Good and Bad News On Joseph Woll's Injury
Today a new update after speaking with the media has revealed the latest update on the recovery process of young star goaltender Joseph Woll. The update includes both good and bad news.
The first update provided a couple of days ago is the good news. Multiple reports were able to confirm that Joseph Woll will begin traveling with the team on road trips.
Joseph Woll is indeed on this trip.
With Woll being back on road trips with the Maple Leafs many were hoping he was close to a return. To this point Woll has not been back on the ice the hope was that he would take that step on the road with the Maple Leafs.
Today during his media availability Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe tried to control expectations. He confirmed that Woll will be working with the team's goalie coach but that will be all on the road trip.
"It just means he's one step further. I don't even expect to see him in any practices on this trip," Keefe explained. "He's just here to work with Curtis [Maple Leafs goaltending coach Curtis Sanford] and be around the guys."
While this isn't the triumphant return that many were hoping for with Woll it is progress. Beginning to skate on his own and work with the coaches is a good sign. if that goes well the next step is likely reacclimatizing him into practice once the team arrives home.
Once he is able to return it will be a huge boost to Toronto's roster. He will likely stabilize the position and give a clearer evaluation of what the team could need at the trade deadline.
