While Brad Treliving is evaluating all his options to bolster his team for the playoffs, a new contender emerged that could change everything.

According to David Pagnotta, the Maple Leafs could be interested in getting back Alexander Barabanov, who currently plays with the San Jose Sharks.

In a new paper, where Pagnotta revealed the most interesting trade candidates ahead of the deadline, he linked Barabanov to the Maple Leafs and another top Canadian team.

"The Sharks like Barabanov, who is eligible to become a UFA in July, but will his contract ask be too high for their liking? If that is the case, he will be made available to contenders looking to strengthen their middle-six.

Barabanov played 13 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs back in the 2020-21 season. In that time, the forward scored one assist. He was traded to San Jose during the season for Antti Suomela, where found more success, scoring 102 points in 178 games since 2021.

The former Leaf would be a great and cheap addition for the team's bottom-six.

Do you think the Leafs should go after him?
