Two Other Canadian Teams Attempting To Steal Top Defenseman From The Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have long been linked to a top defenseman from the Calgary Flames and now it seems like two rival teams are trying to swoop in and take him.
Leafs Long Linked To Tanev
Since the Calgary Flames have been under performing this season, speculation on defenseman Chris Tanev has been high. The main contender for Tanev has reportedly been the Toronto Maple Leafs with the chances of landing him seemingly higher than everybody else.
Many insiders have linked the two together and it seemed all but definite that a deal would get done.
I said a while ago he's their target until he's not available and I still believe that to be the case, and he might not be the only one.
However, it appears that more teams will be trying to get in on Tanev and the Leafs may lose the sweepstakes.
Canadian Rivals Linked To Tanev
A recent article for The Hockey Writers listed both the Ottawa Senators and the Vancouver Canucks as potential destinations for Tanev.
The Senators and Canucks have more assets that they could give up for Tanev which puts the Leafs in a predicament but if Brad Treliving decides it is necessary, he will part with the pieces necessary to pick up Tanev.
