During a recent Toronto Maple Leafs practice, the absence of Noel Acciari raised eyebrows among fans and media. To everyone's surprise, his spot on the ice was taken by an unknown player wearing a jersey with no name or number. The mysterious player was skating on a line with Zach Aston-Reese and Sam Lafferty.
It was later revealed that the unnamed forward was Owen Robinson, a promising player from the University of Toronto Blues. Robinson had a successful season with 25 points in 33 games for the team. Despite the short-lived opportunity, the 6-foot, 178-pound player was thrilled to have the chance to skate with his childhood idols.
This isn't the first time that the Leafs have invited a University of Toronto player to join their practice sessions. Blues' goalie Jett Alexander was given the same opportunity earlier this year.
