Heading into the Stanley Cup playoffs Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs got some exciting news. Their star captain has received a nomination for a prestigious NHL award.

Sources are confirming that Auston Matthews has been nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Award. This award is presented to the player who best exemplifies leadership and community involvement.

Auston Matthews joins the list with some of the best players in the NHL including Cale Maker, Jack Hughes, and Dylan Larkin.

Nominees for the 2024 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, as announced by the NHL, given to the player «who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.»

The award is set to be given out after the season. While individual awards are not the focus for Auston Matthews and the Maple Leafs this is a great honor for him and the organization to be mentioned.
