The Toronto Maple Leafs are finally home after a long stretch on the road, but on Tuesday, one key player wasn't available for practice.
Despite the team preparing for a showdown with the red-hot Winnipeg Jets, it was revealed that veteran forward Tyler Bertuzzi would miss practice, but for a very good reason.
#Leafs practice is about to get underway. Tyler Bertuzzi is not with the team with his wife expecting.
In 45 games this year, Bertuzzi has contributed 6 goals and 20 points, becoming a solid contributor in the bottom-six and representing a solid free agency pickup for GM Brad Treliving.
Over the course of the year, Maple Leafs fans have come to enjoy Tyler Bertuzzi as a player and a person, so while practice is key, it's safe to say that coaches, teammates and fans won't be upset at him for this one.
