The officiating throughout the first few games of the playoffs this year has been a hot topic of conversation, with many fans claiming bias against their teams.
Fortunately for fans, we now know who will be refereeing the third game in the quarterfinal match-up between Toronto and Tampa Bay.
Good News for Fans
Leafs fans can finally breathe a huge sigh of releif, as we have learned that Wes McCauley will NOT be officiating tonight's game.
McCauley has been at odds with the Leafs for what seems like all season, and many fans believe that the veteran official has a personal bias against Toronto specifically.
For those interested in learning the names of the officials for tonight's game, the referees will be Francis Charron and Jake Brenk, while the linesmen will be Brandon Gawryletz and Scott Cherrey.
Looking through each official's officiating history, there doesn't seem to be any clear bias in the number of penalties called or in the outcomes of the games. Hopefully that means we will get to see a fair and unbiased game called tonight.
