Goaltender Matt Murray underwent major surgery this past summer, and although he was expected to be out for a long-time, his return could come a lot sooner than expected.
Sheldon Keefe gives promising update on star goaltender
When asked about Murray, Head Coach Sheldon Keefe had this to say about his veteran goaltender.
Keefe says Murray is progressing well and has been seeing pucks now.
This still doesn't reveal just how close he is to a return from Toronto, but it's a major step forward in a potential return to the NHL, especially given that he wasn't expected to return this year.
In his one year with Toronto, Murray tallied a .903 save percentage along with a 3.01 GAA, and with the inconsistencies of Ilya Samsonov and the injuries surrounding Joseph Woll, this could signal a massive return for Murray ahead of the playoffs where the Maple Leafs will desperately need him.
