Bruins Head Coach calls out scheduling for Toronto Boston series
The Boston Bruins versus Toronto Maple Leafs series has made its way to Toronto for games 3 and 4, and now Bruins' head coach Jim Montgomery is calling out the NHL for its scheduling of the series.
Home ice is a huge advantage for the NHL playoffs, as travelling can take a toll on a team. The Toronto Maple Leafs were able to take a game in Boston during the first two games of their series, and now the Bruins have made the trip to Toronto for games 3 and 4.
However, head coach Jim Montgomery isn't too pleased with the scheduling of their series. With game 3 being tonight on a Wednesday, and game 4 being on Saturday, Montgomery isn't happy that they will be spending so much time in Toronto with Boston having the home-ice advantage in the series. Here is what he had to say according to Chris Johnston.
Jim Montgomery is not a fan of the scheduling in the #bruins/#leafs series: "I would have rather been here Thursday/Saturday, if I'm being honest. I think we're spending more time in Toronto than Toronto's spending in Boston and we're the home team."
While he does have a point that they are spending a decent chunk of time in Toronto, the Bruins do have more home games which is what matters most. However, since they dropped a game in Boston, that advantage has now been squandered.
Montgomery has other, bigger fish to fry, as he will need to make some lineup changes heading into game 3 to account for injuries. It is expected that former Leaf James Van Riemsdyk will enter the series for the first time tonight, according to Mark Masters.
