Cade Webber was a solid NCAA signing of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and now he's opened up on joining them during such a critical time.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are built for a Stanley Cup run in the present, but over the past few years they've added some very talented prospects, with Cade Webber behind described as the perfect defenseman in the eyes of GM Brad Treliving.

Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 220 pounds, it comes as no shock that Treliving and the Leafs locked him up as an NCAA free agent as soon as they could, and now he's relishing his time with the team. Leafs reporter Lance Hornby has now offered this quote from Webber, who appears incredibly excited to be spending time with his new team at such a critical point of the season.

New Leaf NCAA signing Cade Webber is having an "awesome time" at prax with team past few days. "A step up from college," he quips. But Boston area native's grandma in Melford, Mass., is a die-hard Bruins fan. "Every night she watches them, but now she's texting me 'Go Leafs, Go'.

With the blue line depth Toronto have, it's unlikely that he'll find his way into a game in the coming weeks, but spending time with the team will certainly help him down the line when he attempts to crack this lineup.
