Recently NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed who he believes the favorite is to be hired by Brad Treliving and the Toronto Maple Leafs to fill their head coaching position.

The Toronto Maple Leafs fired their now-former head coach Sheldon Keefe and have been in a deep search for his replacement ever since. Of course with a coaching search comes a huge amount of speculation regarding the new head coach. In his most recent 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman said he believes Craig Berube is the heavy favorite to land the job.

Friedman on Toronto: «I'm leaning Berube. To me he's the guy but nothing is done til it's done.»

The Leafs seem to be leaning towards Craig Berube to become the next Leafs head coach; however, «nothing is done until it's done» and Brad Treliving might just be slowing things down a bit

The move was expected to be announced by now as Craig Berube has been the name all along that fans want and that management seems to favor. The more time that this drags out the more that speculation will build that someone else will get the job. Others currently in consideration are potentially Todd McLellan and even Joel Quenneville.

"At this point in time, [Craig] Berube and [Todd] McLellan certainly are the favourites."

@reporterchris has an update on the Maple Leafs' coaching search on the latest #CJShow.

It remains to be seen who the Toronto Maple Leafs end up lockin in to be the next head coach of the team. If the rumors end up being true Maple Leafs fans will get what they want and land Craig Berube.
