The 40-year-old last played in the NHL during the 2015-16 season when he played in 58 games for the New York Islanders, recording 9 goals and 25 points in the process. Clearly, it would be a massive stretch for him to seriously make a comeback to the NHL.
That being said, Grabovski was somewhat of a fan favorite during his time in Toronto. He spent the majority of his career with the Leafs, playing 340 games for the organization and recording 91 goals and 208 points in the process.
Many Leafs fans would likely be open to seeing Grabo back in the organization in some capacity, but clearly, his playing days are over, regardless of his new training regiment.
That being said, the Leafs very well could use a new voice or two among the coaching staff. After all, they have already moved on from Sheldon Keefe, and thus have one position open. When the new head coach comes in, he may very well look to overhaul the rest of his staff as well. This could be Grabovski's chance to come back to the league.
