Keefe drops a major injury update on McMann and McCabe
During last night's game against the Detroit Red Wings, the Leafs had some terrible outcomes for Jake McCabe and Bobby McMann, who both suffered injuries during the game.
At this point in the season, the Leafs are just hoping for players to remain healthy heading into the playoffs. With a spot in the playoffs secured, there is really no reason to be pushing anyone to the point of injury, even though sometimes this is out of their hands.
Last night, this is what happened to Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe and forward Bobby McMann. After the game, Sheldon Keefe gave an update on their health status, which is not good for Leaf fans.
Sheldon Keefe says it looks like Jake McCabe is fine and couldn't come back due to the swelling.
Says Bobby McMann has a lower-body injury and they still have to determine the severity of it.
This is decent news for Jake McCabe, who has struggled to keep his face healthy the entire season. However, Bobby McMann was the Leafs' secret weapon, an offensive threat that can play up and down the lineup. Having him out for any playoff games would be a massive loss, so it is likely best for him to sit the remainder of the games in the regular season.
The only thing Leaf fans can do is cross their fingers that the remainder of the roster can stay healthy. They will need everyone to be at 100 percent heading into an eventual playoff matchup with either Florida or Boston, so taking extra precautions is crucial at this juncture.
