Leafs Top Defensive Prospect Could Come Over From Europe Sooner Than Expected!
The Toronto Maple Leafs still have some intriguing prospects despite being a contender.
One of these prospects could make an impact sooner than expected.
The Maple Leafs have a quality defensive prospect in Topi Niemela.
While not a future first-pairing guy, Topi Niemela is projectable to be a bottom-four two-way defenseman, which is very valuable - especially to a contender.
The 2020 3rd round pick is edging towards the end of his European career, as his Liiga team Karpat is set to face the dynamic KooKoo in the playoffs.
If Karpat fails to beat KooKoo, Topi Niemela could be in Toronto as soon as the end of March, and will join the Marlies for what will hopefully be a deep run.
It looks like the Leafs have reinforcement coming from all over the world!
