Toronto Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies made a heartbreaking statement on the relocation rumours surrounding his hometown team, the Arizona Coyotes.

In the last few days, there's been a lot of rumours and speculation about the future of the Arizona Coyotes.

Frank Seravalli shared a major update, stating that the Coyotes could relocate to Salt Lake City as soon as this summer:

"BREAKING: Sources tell @DailyFaceoff - NHL, Arizona Coyotes & Smith Entertain. Grp have made significant progress on the framework of an agreement to relocate #Yotes to Salt Lake City, Utah.

#NHL memo updated Governors today.

NOT done. Many layers and lawyers. Much work to do."

After this development took the hockey world by storm, reporters have asked a few players what they thought about the situation.

Leafs' Knies, a Phoenix-native and fan of the Coyotes, wasn't too happy about those rumours:

TORONTO - Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies lets out a sigh as he sinks into his stall following Thursday's morning skate.

Yes, the proud Phoenix native has caught wind of reports that his beloved Arizona Coyotes could be relocating to Utah as early as next season.

"Not too happy with the situation," Knies says. "It's pretty unfortunate. The Coyotes did a lot for me growing up, and I loved going to the games. It was a big reason as to why I got into hockey. But that kind of situation is out of my control. I'm hopeful that they can stay there, because it meant a lot to me, but I guess we're gonna have to see what happens."

Knies, as a fan, doesn't want to see his childhood team relocate and it's completely understandable. Do you agree with him?
