The NHL Player Safety Department has determined Max Domi's fate regarding his reverse hit on the New York Islanders' Joshua George on Thursday night.

During the Maple Leafs vs. Islanders game in Long Island on Thursday, Toronto came away with a 2-1 victory thanks to a two-goal effort from Bobby McMann and another great start from Joseph Woll; turning things around after a rough patch.

But not everything was peachy for the team. During the game Max Domi delivered a crushing hit to the Islanders' Joshua George, trying to prevent him from causing any havoc.

He clipped him in the head which led to George leaving the game and not returning, meanwhile Domi was able to get away scot-free.

However, the NHL has determined that Domi's hit wasn't worthy of some extra punishment as they have decided to not suspend or fine the Maple Leafs forward for his actions.

Max Domi's Verdict's Consequences For Toronto And The NHL

Domi is another name the NHL has had to deal with this season, and while they've been busy they also have a bit of a sketchy track record. Given that Toronto often feels like the whipping boy of the league, it's good to know they are getting to be a more impartial organization.

The reverse hit has been a hot topic given how some believe the hit should be allowed as it's just using your back-end and hips to deliver a hit (though Domi may have gotten a little higher than intended); however some believe it's a justifiable penalty and cause for punishment.

The consequences for the league not following on their precedent or straying from what they've done previously, it shows how Toronto might be getting bit more unfair treatment than the other teams.

For Toronto, the potential loss of their third-line sparkplug could have been catastrophic to their momentum.

A key factor in Toronto's win on Thursday, if the team were to lose him it could halt any progress the team has made thus far. Coming into a tough back to back, they need as many reinforcements as possible.

This season Domi has three goals and 11 assists after struggling earlier on and has eight points in his last eight games.
