The Toronto Maple Leafs will see an old friend on Monday night, and it appears William Nylander and Michael Bunting are having some fun with it.
On Monday, the NHL's two game slate is highlighted by a showdown between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The game is already high-stakes giving playoff seedings and a playoff spot on the line, but it's also a chance for Michael Bunting to return to Toronto with his new team.
Ahead of what should be a fun, competitive showdown, William Nylander took a funny shot at his former teammate, with Bunting, who left as a free agent for Carolina in the summer responding.
William Nylander on facing old friend Michael Bunting: "I'll get under his skin"
Bunting on Nylander: "He was joking around with me, saying that he's ready to fight me any time I want ... I'll be all over him tonight for sure"
Despite some issues, it's clear that Bunting is beloved by teammates, and while it's great to see him joking around with Nylander, when the puck drops on Monday night, things will get very serious. Right now, the Maple Leafs are locked into a playoff spot, but will still look for a big win against a red-hot Penguins team that find themselves needing to win to stay above many teams in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
