Things got heated last night between the Toronto Marlies and the Belleville Senators of the AHL, almost looking like the rivalry between the Leafs and Senators has trickled down to their farm teams. During the game, the Marlies were able to tie the score in the second period. However, for some unknown reason, this didn't sit well with the Senators, and prospect Tyler Kleven delivered a crosscheck to Marlies forward Zach Solow.
Take a look at the incident below, which ended up in a line brawl.
The crosscheck was obviously immediately compared to what happened between Morgan Rielly and Ridly Greig. However, this case seemed to be toned down a little. While Greig was aware that Rielly was skating up to him and this one was sort of a blindside crosscheck, Kleven's wasn't nearly as hard or as high as Rielly's.
What has been made evidently clear though, is that the rivalry between Toronto and Ottawa appears to be fully back, and we can expect some fireworks between the two Ontario teams moving forward.
