Pending UFA Max Domi unveils what's next for him and the Leafs
Max Domi, at 29 years old, made quite the splash with four points in the playoffs games, not to mention 17 shots on goal.
Domi wasn't just padding his stats; he was making waves all over the ice. He buzzed with Mitch Marner and Tyler Bertuzzi, and got some action on the first power play. He used his speed to be everywhere. He ranked in the 82nd percentile in top skating speed, 83rd percentile in 20-plus mile per hour speed bursts, and covered 16.08 miles on the ice.
Toronto signed Domi to a steal of a deal back on July 2, 2023. It was a one-year contract worth $3 million, which, considering his impact in the playoffs, has been one of the league's best bargains.
So, what's next for Domi? Well, as a free agent, the ball's in his court. He's expressed his desire to return to the Leafs, but also acknowledged hockey is a business.
Do I want to come back? Absolutely. I think this team has everything it takes to do something special, and I'd love to help them do that. But it's obviously beyond my control. So, leave that up to my agent and management here.
It'll be up to his agent and the team's management to hammer out the details and see if they can keep this offensive production in Toronto for the seasons to come.
