The referees were fooled by an embarassing dive from Brad Marchand in last night's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins.

The Leafs managed to win game two by a 3-2 score, but not with the referees' help.

At some point in the game, they gave a penalty for slashing to former Bruins Tyler Bertuzzi after he hit Marchand behind his knee with his stick.

However, even if the strike seemed quite minor, the Bruins' captain took a dive and fell on the ice, grabbing his leg.

Take a look:

There's no doubt that Bertuzzi slashed him and deserved a penalty, but Marchand wanted to make sure the refs saw it happened.

As you can guess, Marchand got right back up as soon as the scrum heated up to help his teammates.

Many people called him out for his blatant embellishment:

"Is he a soccer player"

"Brad Stutzle over here"

"Always cries wolf. Couldn't expect anything less from him."

The Leafs ended up winning, and the players were surely driven by Marchand's antics. In the playoffs, we didn't expect anything less from him.

Do you think Marchand should've been sent to the box for embellishment after Bertuzzi's slash?
