Top prospect Nikita Grebyonkin set to join the Leafs for the playoffs
The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently in a very tightly series with their longtime playoff rivals the Boston Bruins, however good news may be on the horizon as they have the chance to add an amazing russian forward from their prospect pipeline, Nikita Grebyonkin who will not be returning to the KHL.
Grebyonkin, fifth round selection by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2022 NHL draft, has had an impressive season in arguably the second hardest league in professional hockey, where he collected 41 points in 67 games. He topped if off with a championship in what could be his final season in the KHL as he prepares for Leafs land.
Nikita Grebyonkin is a KHL champion!
Metallurg Magnitogorsk sweeps Lokomotiv in the Gagarin Cup Finals to claim the team's first league trophy since 2016.
Grebyonkin's role diminished later in the postseason. He finishes with 3 goals and 6 points in 23 games.
With his season over, it is expected that he will be joining the Toronto Maple Leafs in their potential playoff run, but according to the source, it would most probably be for the second round, shall the Leafs make it.

Guess no injury.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs manage to get out of the first round with already two games without star player William Nylander, round two can really be a successful one if they have a full roster including the 2022 fifth round pick Nikita Grebyonkin!
