The Toronto Maple Leafs have a scout in attendance for Patrick Roy's return in Montreal as the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders are set to face off in a Thursday Night Tilt.

The Leafs are not watching the Canadiens cause they admire their play, there watching them because they have two big players of interest in a potential acquisition.

Brad Treliving and Sean Monahan are no strangers to eachother. It was reported last week that the Canadiens and Monahan have an agreement that he would be traded to a contender this season, hence why he resigned with Montreal. Teams like Colorado, Winnipeg and Toronto are all in the mix for the Canadiens forward.

The GM of the Leafs shipped Monahan in August 2022 when he was with the Flames along with a first round pick to dump his contract and eventually sign UFA Nazem Kadri.

Toronto Maple Leafs want toughness in their back end

The Leafs want to improve their back end both defensively and physically. «Insert Arber Xhekaj». It's very possible that the Leafs can be targeting the Ontario Native as he was recently sent down by the Canadiens. It's possible the Canadiens called him back up so scouts can set their eyes on the tough defensemen.
