Adam Larsson was picked 4th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and he's really fit in nicely with the Kraken.
The problem is that Seattle is not expected to compete for a Stanley Cup next season, which has led many to use PuckGM on the website PuckPedia to develop a possible trade scenario between the Leafs and the Kraken.
This deal would make sense for the Leafs as they would get a significant defensive upgrade over Timothy Liljegren. Larsson is 31 and is entering the final year of his four-year $16 million contract.
In his most recent season with the Kraken, Adam Larsson played in 81 games and scored four goals and had 18 points. Teams would have a much harder time scoring goals against the Leafs with Larsson on their back end.
Seattle would benefit from this trade by getting a lot younger, seeing as Timothy Liljegren is only 25. He just signed a two-year $6 million extension with the Leafs this summer, and could find himself slotting in Seattle's top defensive pairing next season.
He played in 55 games for the Leafs last season, scoring three goals and adding 20 assists. Liljegren would definitely miss his Leafs teammates though, as he was seen partying hard with them over the off-season.
The Kraken would also benefit from this deal by adding a second-round pick to help them build for the future. The cherry on top of it all is that they would also be acquiring David Kampf, who had a decent season for the Leafs last year by collecting 19 points in 78 games.
There have been no shortage of trade rumors so far this off-season, and Leafs fans can't wait to see their team back on the ice. What matters most to them is that the team finds a way to win when the games matter most, and maybe Adam Larsson can be the missing piece to their puzzle.
