Tom Wilson's six-game suspension takes a surprising turn
Tom Wilson's six-game suspension just took a surprising turn, as it was announced that he wouldn't appeal the League's decision.

Capitals' Tom Wilson lands vicious high stick on Noah Gregor and gets suspended six games for the incident.
In a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, on March 20th, Tom Wilson received a four-minute penalty for landing a dangerous high stick on Noah Gregor.
If you missed it, watch it here:
After the incident, Gregor shared his thoughts about Wilson's hit:
"Gregor said Wilson apologized in the moment. "I don't think he's trying to slash a guy in the face. I don't think anyone in the league is ever trying to do that. Probably a little reckless with the stick and unfortunately got me, but I'm fine. The league will handle it." #Leafs"
Wilson, a renowned repeat offender, expected to face a lengthy suspension, and he got served.
A few days later, the NHL and the Department of Player Safety shared their verdict on Wilson's incident: a six-game suspension.
There's been a new development regarding Wilson's suspension.
Tom Wilson Decides to not file an appeal concerning his six-game suspension for dirty high stick on Maple Leafs' Noah Gregor
We just learned that Wilson won't file an appeal and will serve his six-game suspension in its entirety.
"NEWS: Tom Wilson of @Capitals and the NHLPA have declined to file an appeal of his 6-game suspension for high-sticking, a source tells ESPN."
This comes as a bit of a surprise. A lot of people thought that six games was a bit farfetched when it was announced, and it was believed that Wilson should file an appeal to make it shorter.
Not only that, Wilson will need to forfeit a whopping $161,458.32 in salary for missing these six games.
This is Wilson's sixth suspension of his career. The NHL surely hope that he can learn from that suspension and find a balance between tough plays and player safety.
As for the Capitals, they won their last two games without Wilson, and they'll look to keep their momentum and finish the season strong. They're currently holding on to the second Wild Card spot in the East, and unless they stop playing well, they should be able to qualify for the playoffs.
