NHL Insider Provides an Update on How Badly Brassard is Injured

On Thursday night, the Flyers played against the Senators, during the game, longtime NHL veteran Derick Brassard took an awful injury.

Brassard Took a Bad Fall

It appeared to fans that Brassard took a nasty ankle injury, after his ankle bent the wrong way during a scoring opportunity, unfortunately, it appears that he might have suffered a bad injury.

On Saturday, Ottawa Senators insider, Bruce Garrioch was unable to provide any updates on Brassard, but he confirmed that he would not play for the rest of the season, he also hinted that this type of injury might be career ending for Brassard.

"In the case of the 35-year-old Brassard, not only may his season be over, but there's also a chance that could have been the final shift of his National Hockey League career."

It was recently confirmed that Brassard broke his fibula and has undergone surgery.

Brassard has had a wonderful career playin for many NHL teams, including the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, New York Islanders, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers and the Ottawa Senators. Since he has played for so many teams, Brassard has amassed a large group of fans, who would all be devastated if Brassard has to retire early due to an injury. Hopefull everyone can continue to see Brassard recover from this injury and return to the sport that he loves.
