Roni Hirvonen has been injured after Leafs camp invitee Nolan Dillingham laid a massive hit on him in a prospect game.
Hirvonen was drafted 59th overall in 2020 and was hoping to make the Leafs team out of training camp this year. He scored 28 points in 57 games for HIFK of the Liiga, the top Finnish league.
Luckily, Hirvonen was able to walk out of the practice but he was clearly hurt and has sustained a concussion.
Nolan Dillingham was a camp invitee. He was the captain of the OHL's Sarnia Sting last year where he scored 14 points in 45 games. He also logged 65 penalty minutes as well.
Fans are upset with Dillingham as he was clearly out of line for doing this in a prospects scrimmage. Many have called for him to get cut from the camp.
While today is the last day of camp, the one thing this hit does is guarantee that Dillingham will not be receiving a contract from the Maple Leafs after injuring one of their top prospects.
