Trouba Releases Heartbreaking Comments on Blake Wheeler's Injury

It's always emotional for players when one of their teammates goes down with an injury. However, it seemed a bit more emotional for the New York Rangers when Blake Wheeler was helped off the ice after a scary injury along the boards.

Now, Captain Jacob Trouba has just made his comments on the play, and they are heartbreaking. The Captain noted that, while not for sure, Wheeler could have had his last game of hockey.

"Yeah, we need a new RW now, but we lost a friend," said Trouba of Wheeler's injury. "We lost our teammate I'm not saying this is true, but maybe he played his last hockey game It's emotional. It's something you think about. You don't take things for granted."

Trouba and Wheeler Have Close Relationship Due to Past Teams

Both Trouba and Wheeler played for the Winnipeg Jets before their time on the Rangers. With such a tight personal bond between the two, its not surprising to see Trouba a little more emotional than normal when talking about Wheeler's future in the NHL and his injury.

The team will have to do their best to put these emotions in check, as they have a real shot at making a long run into the playoffs this year. If that's the case, they might use this injury as a reminder not to take anything for granted, and to play for Wheeler.
