Last spring, young Michael Misa was given the status of outstanding player, which allowed him to be drafted by an OHL team at the age of 15.

It was the Saginaw Spirit who finally got their wish by selecting him at the very first pick of this draft.

Despite starting his junior career against players much older than him, Misa is literally dominant and his production is on pace to break all records for a player who has achieved exceptional status.

In 11 games so far, he has nine goals and six assists for a total of 15 points. He has an astounding 1.36 points per game average.

To give you an idea of how much his production is out of line for a 15 year old, here is the average points per game of other outstanding players before him:

Michael Misa - 1.36 pts/game
John Tavares - 1.19 pts/game
Shane Wright - 1.14 pts/game
Jason Spezza - 1.06 pts/game
Connor McDavid - 1.05 pts/game

Obviously, over the course of a full season, it's very plausible that he would slow down in terms of offensive production, especially in a schedule as long as 68 games.

On the other hand, for a player who won't be eligible for the NHL draft until 2025, his current production is downright impressive, especially in a league like the OHL, which is known to be the toughest to play in the three Canadian junior leagues.

Just a reminder, the Habs will have two first round picks in 2025, thanks to the first round pick they got from the Calgary Flames in the Sean Monahan trade.

Sometimes, picks received this late can pay much bigger dividends than expected, if by some lucky chance they had an unexpectedly disappointing season.
