Now that the 2022 NHL All-Star Game is behind us, expect the NHL trade rumors to be hot and heavy. With that said hockey insider Jimmy Murphy brings up that the Montreal Canadiens are interested in Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jacob Chychrun.

Sources say the Habs have been making plenty of calls letting teams know they are open for business. The source said this about the Canadiens, "they were busy. I can tell you that."

Telling that to Montreal Hockey Now who went on to say, "I'm sure you know already but they're not just going to have some free-for-all fire sale. There's pieces in place and it's just been one of those years, as you can attest Murphy's Law' exists and it hit the Habs badly this year. What I do think will surprise a lot of people is the hockey trades they may make. Not just player for picks and prospects coming back to Montreal, but player for player and money for money. From what I'm hearing this could be more of a retool."

If the Habs Executive VP Jeff Gorton and GM Kent Hughes are indeed wanting to add a player like Jacob Chychrun to the Canadiens line up, it's going to cost the Canadiens a couple first round picks plus.

Jacob Chychrun would fit in perfectly, he's young and still has a bargain salary of just $4,600,000 million dollars annually for two more NHL seasons. That's why if the Canadiens want Chychrun they are going to have to give up something in return. The Flyers, Kings, Red Wings, Sabres, and Devils are all also interested in the services of Jacob Chychrun.

The Montreal Canadiens might have the advantage though because they currently have alot of salary cap space due to the injuries to key players this season and will grow with the moving of defencemen Jeff Petry and Ben Chiarot who will both will be dealt by March 21st.
