All is not well for Andrei Markov in Russia. The former Tricolore defenseman was suspended for a year and a half for failing to take a drug test.
The reason for this absence is quite simple, Markov is not playing anymore and is about to start a coaching career.
He would have had to provide a letter stating that he had retired in order to be exempted, which he did not do.
As a result, his coaching career with Vityaz will have to wait at least 18 months.
Markov played his last years with Ak Bars and Lokomotiv.
It will be interesting to follow the continuation of this case, because this oversight has cost him a lot. Will he continue his career elsewhere in the meantime? Only time will tell.
