Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman made a big announcement today, the team has hired Nicklas Lidstrom as vice president of hockey operations.
Former Wings Captain Nicklas Lidstrom, 51, will be involved in all aspects of hockey operations for the Wings. With their young core he will be a big help.
Lidstrom spent his entire 20- NHL seasons in Detroit. The 4 time Stanley Cup champion amassed 1,142 points (264-878-1,142) in 1,564 games.
