How heartbreaking to hear this.
Unfortunately, Lafleur succumbed to lung cancer and died at the age of 70.
This has been confirmed by his family and close friends, and one can only imagine how numerous the testimonies are already. We're talking about one of the all-time greats in both hockey and our province's history.
He has been a source of inspiration for numerous generations.
Throughout his storied hockey career, the Blond Demon left an indelible imprint on the minds of millions of young and old.
In 1126 games over 17 seasons, he scored an amazing 560 goals and 1353 points.
Guy Lafleur is also the recipient of three Art Ross prizes, two Hart trophies, a Conn-Smythe trophy, and, most importantly, five Stanley Cups, as reported by our colleagues at Marqueur.com.
Our hearts go out to Guy's family and friends, because he was an incredible man, friend, father, brother, and loved one to many.
Mr. Lafleur, may you rest in peace.
