According to what Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports, New York Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury said in an interview that he was not happy with Panarin's consistency during the playoffs.

« However, two league sources said Drury was unhappy with Panarin's play in the playoffs, when he had 16 points in 20 games, but not the consistent impact anyone around the Rangers hoped or needed. If there is a breakup, Panarin could ask, as almost impossible as it would be to move this gigantic contract, "explained the journalist of the media The Athletic, Arthur Staple.

Panarin is under contract for four more seasons with a salary of nearly $11.65 million per season. Will Drury trade him? Only time will tell, but it would be pretty surprising.
