Ever since Geoff Molson fired Montreal Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin, there's been many speculations and rumours to who would take his place in Montreal. Patrick Roy's name has seemed to be in the mix, even when the Canadiens fired Claude Julien as the Head Coach and named Dominique Ducharme as the interm coach the rumors were that St Parick would return as the next head coach.

Patrick Roy was asked right away after the firing of Marc Bergevin if he would be interested in the Job saying:

''Yeah if they call me would definitely listen and maybe do business".

He went on to describe the Canadiens saying:

"Since 1993, the team has been running in circles, what do they have to lose by giving me a chance to see what I can do with this club? I have a plan and a map on how I would do things it's up to them if there interested in it".

That didn't happen as the Canadiens went on a Cinnderela run to the Stanley cup finals losing in 5 games to the Lightning.
Fast forward to now and the Canadiens are having one of the worse seasons in franchise history and Geoff Molson cleaned house, bringing Jeff Gorton in to fix it, and that's what he's working on right now by finding his new GM.

Patrick Roy had his meeting with the Habs, it went well reported Renaud Lavoie of Tva Sports, Saying "I spoke with him Today and he mentioned he wanted to protect the Canadiens in that process. He didn't know if he had the right to say he was indeed a candidate and then the Canadiens told him to was OK to mention it Roy said."

Patrick Roy had an amazing Career with the Canadiens winning 2 Stanley Cups, in 1986 and again in 1993. However they remember how he left the Canadiens after a game vs the Detroit Red Wings, where Roy would tell former Canadiens owner Ronald Corey that he played his last game in Montreal.

Roy would go to the Colorado Avalanche in a trade and win 2 more Stanley Cups while the Canadiens have been struggling since the Roy trade. The Canadiens and Roy would eventually patch things up as he had his #33 to the banners of the Bell Cenre.
