Disaster For the Maple Leafs Just 10 Games Into Season
The Leafs made major changes in net this past off-season. They let starting goaltender Jack Campbell walk off to free agency, and replaced him with fabled goalie Matt Murray.
They equally traded away the terrible Petr Mrazek contract, and replaced him with once highly-touted goalie prospect Ilya Samsonov.
This duo of Murray and Samsonov was supposed to revitalize the team between the pipes - but just 10 games into the 2022-23 campaign, they are both injured.
Murray was put on LTIR a few weeks ago, and Samsonov was injured during tonight's Leafs game against the Boston Bruins.
Now, the Leafs third goaltender, Erik Kallgren will be thrown in the starters net. Not an ideal situation for the playoff hopeful group, as Kallgren has been tough to watch this season.
Hopefully one of their main duo will recover soon, as if they don't, the Leafs may be forced to make a desperation move.
