It will be recalled, Ducharme chose to go there from a roster composed mainly of veterans, thus leaving aside the young forwards Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Cole Caufield, as well as the young defender Alexander Romanov.
But it seems that Ducharme was far from being the only member of the organization to have this vision of the starting line-up from the CH to start the series, on the contrary.
During a recent press briefing, the Canadiens head coach admitted that all the team's coaching staff in addition to GM Marc Bergevin all had exactly the same starting roster even before discussing it internally.
"We are 4 coaches and a GM, we had the same 12 forwards and 6 defenders to start the series, even before discussing it. It was unanimous."
- Dominique Ducharme
He is therefore not only supported by his assistants in his decision but also by his GM since Marc Bergevin did not see any Kotkaniemi, Caufield or Romanov to start the series against the Leafs him either.
That said, there is nothing to indicate that the three youngsters will not be included in the roster during the series, particularly during the home games when the CH will have the last change, since Ducharme himself has indicated that he already has the 'intention to use 14 or 15 forwards as well as 7 or 8 defenders in the first round.
It will be very interesting to see what the Canadiens' strategy will be with his young players during the series.
