Elliotte Friedman drops bombshell; Is Morgan Rielly on His Way Out of Toronto?
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to add to the offense as the trade deadline approaches. One of the glaring needs is a middle-six winger and each trade narrows the gap where those available, may not be who the team needs.
On Insider Trading Elliott Friedman heard that Morgan Rielly's future in Toronto may be in question:
«I think you're going to see Toronto surprise everyone, they're looking for a long-term solution on LW and Rielly has started to fall out of favour with management and fans»
Obviously the difficult thing here Rielly has a no movement clause and would have to be okay with the move
Rielly could easily benefit from a fresh start, and as his contract comes with a no-move clause this could cause the team another headache in the search for a winger.
Rielly's AAV is $7.5 Million per year and given how cash-strapped the Leafs are, I don't see how Dubas can afford to retain, without bringing in a third team to carry that cost. But with Rielly failing to stick with his defensive assignments in the Leaf's own zone, it could cost them another 1st round exit as well.
