Well tell that to the Montreal Canadiens and Habs defenceman Jeff Petry, after Edmonton Oilers Zach Kassian knocks down Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault and no one did anything.
Kassian received a 2 minute penalty on the play but where's the don't touch my goalie rule?
It's like no one noticed or cared. One that did take notice was former Montreal Canadiens player, now TVA Sports analyst, Maxim Lapierre who was quick to criticize Jeff Petry after saying:
«It's shameful, it's just shameful! Right now, Montembeault is wondering if the guys like him or don't like him. Petry is on vacation, he has an ''A'' on his sweater. It's the same player who was yelling at the others on the bench a few months ago. He's the same player who doesn't practice hard in training. For me, Jeff Petry has to leave tomorrow morning.»
I'd have to agree with Max, Jeff Petry was supposed to be a leader on this team back before the season began with Shea Weber's uncertain future. Jeff has played most of this season like he doesn't care, that's not the leadership the young kids need to see.
Petry is having the worst year of his career with just 1 goal, and 4 assists in 36 games this season. He is under contract until the end of the 2024-25 season with a $6,250,000 annual salary.
