Gary Bettman Drops the Hammer on Mitchell Miller and the Boston Bruins
Gary Bettman is known to rule the NHL controversially. Many of his moves anger fans, yet he has held the role since 1993.
Today, however, he pulled a fan-favorite move - dropping the hammer on Boston Bruins prospect Mitchell Miller.
Mitchell Miller is an extremely controversial prospect, who was renounced by the Arizona Coyotes after having drafted him. He is convicted of racist and ableist acts against a disabled black child in his school.
Even Bruins captain, Patrice Bergeron has his doubts about the move.
Now, Gary Bettman has had his say in the incident. He has now said that the NHL was not consulted in the process, and that Mitchell Miller is not eligible to play in the NHL due to his criminal past.
He equally said that Miller may never be able to play in the NHL.
It will be interesting to watch if Miller ever becomes a real NHL-worthy player, because if he doesn't, the Bruins may never live this down.
