According to information from player agent Allan Walsh, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has warned general managers about arbitration.
If the league's new head coaches, including Martin St-Louis, decide to complain about an official after the game, the coach in question will be severely punished. Obviously, this message is also valid for the older coaches.
Walsh adds:
"I'm told that the NHL's consistently horrible officiating (and often missed flagrant calls) was a "hot topic" on the first day of the NHL General Managers' meeting today. The NHL kicked off the discussion by reminding general managers that anyone who publicly criticizes officiating will be severely fined. #MondedeGary"
The message is pretty clear.
