Gary Bettman is angry with the Montreal Canadiens

There is always the impression that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has a grudge against the Canadiens and Canadian teams. Since he took office in 1993, only one Canadian-based team has won the Stanley Cup - the Canadiens in 1993.
Now we know that Bettman is angry with the CH for a reason. Apparently there was some kind of unwritten law through NHL management not to select Logan Mailloux until the second round of the draft in 2021.
Obviously, it was under Marc Bergevin that Mailloux was selected in the first round and Kent Hughes' team has handled it admirably since then, but let's just say that the NHL is keeping an eye on them. Mailloux still hasn't received confirmation that the NHL will let him play.
It would be a shame for the Mitchell Miller story to bring the dust down on Mailloux when he has done some good things since the unfortunate events. However, the young man really has no room for error, or the NHL itself will certainly not accept him into its ranks. According to Bob Hartley, the two situations are very different.
