"The important thing is that Patrick and Jeff Gorton can get along. It takes a click. Otherwise, it doesn't work. But, on the other hand, things have to change in this organization. I don't know the other candidates that are in the media. However, I don't see anyone other than Patrick to deal with the situation that prevails with the Habs." - Guy Lafleur
One thing is certain, Lafleur seems to have Roy in high esteem.
"Patrick is a strong person. He has a good head on his shoulders. He's not a cellar-dweller! The Habs need to get the cage shaken! - Guy Lafleur
Lafleur thinks Bob Gainey's appointment as an advisor to Geoff Molson and Jeff Gorton is good news for Roy. Gainey has been a player and a manager with the Habs. Plus, he knows Roy from four seasons together.
Finally, the renowned number 10 discussed Marc Bergevin's reign. He felt Bergevin had been in office too long.
"General managers' contracts are too long anyway. It should take three years to build and three years to win. Ten years is a long time in crime!" - Guy Lafleur
