"The NHL was alerted that the Carolina Hurricanes only played four preseason games this year," said Seravalli.
"There's no official confirmation, but there's some thought out there that it's the Montreal Canadiens that had alerted the NHL to this, sort of, interesting wrinkle to Carolina's schedule."
Due to covid, Seravalli believes Carolina thought the rule of at least six preseason games was gone. Each NHL team can choose its own preseason schedule. The NHL schedules the regular season.
"There's no penalty, but I think it's probably pretty fair to say there's no love lost between these two teams, and honestly I can't wait to see them meet on the ice," Seravalli added.
